An indication shown on the cluster every ignition cycle confirms that the complete network of Air Bag modules and sophisticated sensors is active. This checks even in cases of main battery failure. An onboard reserve guarantees Air Bag deployment when it matters optimally. From the first four-cylinder sedans to the later turbo V6 performers, all first- and second-generation Acura TLX trims connect to the system just like a factory component. Owners upgrading or servicing need not worry about extra adapters. As a result of new Acura-tuned algorithms that better read impact angle and speed, the Air Bag response can stage inflation in smarter steps, limiting forces on the chest and head and enabling the vehicle to win consistently strong safety scores. The TLX's side curtain, knee, and seat-mounted airbags do a good job protecting the cabin. In fact, they provide protection in as many as ten zones, making the TLX one of the leaders in the segment. In recent versions of the TLX, a three-chamber front passenger Air Bag has been made available which inflates like a cradle to guide the torso away from hard surfaces.
