The receiver-drier should be replaced whenever the compressor is replaced. To remove it, first have the air conditioning system refrigerant discharged and recycled. Then, disconnect the negative battery cable from the battery. Set the parking brake, block the rear wheels and raise the front of the vehicle, supporting it securely on jackstands. Remove the lower splash guard. Remove the drivebelt. On lntegra models, remove the intake air duct. Disconnect the compressor clutch wiring harness. Disconnect the refrigerant lines from the compressor by removing the bolts and detaching the refrigerant lines. Plug the open fittings to prevent entry of dirt and moisture. On Legend models, remove the front bumper, grille, spoiler and right radius rod. Unbolt the compressor from the mounting brackets and remove it from the vehicle. The clutch may have to be transferred from the original to the new compressor. To install, reverse the removal process. Replace all O-rings with new ones specifically made for air conditioning system use and lubricate them with refrigerant oil. Have the system evacuated, recharged and leak tested by the shop that discharged it. If the compressor is being replaced, pour out the oil from the old compressor into a graduated container and add that amount of new refrigerant oil to the new compressor. Also, add one ounce of refrigerant oil when the system is recharged with refrigerant.
