    Q:
How to Replace the Coolant Temperature Sensor in the Acura MDX? Posted by Customer
    A:
First of all, remove the engine cover, drain the coolant, disengage the ECT sensor, unscrew it, replace its O-ring, and finally reverse the process to install. Then do the same for 2003-2006 Acura and Honda Models from 2005. For 2007 Acura models with two ECT sensors, lift the vehicle, remove the splash shield, drain coolant, disconnect the sensor, replace the O-ring, and reverse that procedure for installation.

    Q:
Where is the Coolant Temperature Sensor located and how to remove and install on an Acura TL? Posted by Customer
    A:
The ECT sensor for 2006 and earlier models, or ECT sensor 1 for 2007 and later models, is located on the coolant passage casting under the throttle body. Begin by removing the engine cover and draining the engine coolant, as failing to do so may result in coolant leaking from the crossover when the ECT sensor is removed; therefore, install the new sensor quickly. Disconnect the electrical connector from the ECT sensor, then unscrew the sensor with a wrench, noting that most deep sockets won't fit over it. If reusing the old ECT sensor, handle it carefully to avoid damage that could affect the PGM-FI system. Remove and discard the old O-ring, ensuring to use a new one during installation. The installation process is the reverse of removal, and it's important to tighten the ECT sensor to the specified torque while refilling the cooling system. For ECT sensor 2, located on the lower left rear side of the radiator in 2007 and later models, raise the front of the vehicle securely on jackstands and remove the engine splash shield. Drain the engine coolant to prevent leakage when removing the ECT sensor, then disconnect the electrical connector and unscrew the sensor with a wrench. Again, handle the old sensor with care if planning to reuse it, and remove and discard the old O-ring, installing a new one regardless of whether the old sensor is reused or a new one is installed. Follow the reverse process for installation, ensuring to tighten the ECT sensor to the specified torque and refill the cooling system.

    Q:
How should the new sending unit be prepared for installation for the 2006 Acura TL? Posted by Customer
    A:
Apply a conductive sealant on the threads (not Teflon tape).
