Acura 42600-SD4-010 Rear Axle Shaft Assembly

If the vehicle has steel wheels, remove the hub cap; for mag wheels, remove the wheel lug nut cover. Unstake the wheel hub nut with a chisel if staked, or bend out locking tabs. Loosen the hub nut with a socket and breaker bar. Loosen lug nuts, raise the vehicle and support on jackstands. Remove lug nuts and front wheel. Remove the axle shaft hub nut, preventing the hub from turning with a pry bar. Drain the transaxle lubricant. Disconnect the damper fork and separate the lower control arm and tie rod end. Swing the knuckle/hub assembly out until the axle shaft is free. Pry the inner end of the axle shaft from the transaxle using a large screwdriver. Remove the axle shaft from the vehicle. Pry the old spring clip from the axle shaft and install a new one. Lubricate the differential seal and raise the axle shaft into position. Insert the splined end of the inner CV joint into the differential side gear. Apply grease to the outer CV joint splines, and install the stub axle into the hub. Install the hub nut and tighten securely. Install the wheel and lug nuts, then lower the vehicle. Tighten the hub nut and stake the nut to the groove in the axle shaft. Refill the transaxle with lubricant.
