Block the front wheels and loosen the rear wheel lug nuts before raising the rear of the vehicle and securely supporting it on jackstands. For vehicles with rear drum brakes, remove the brake drum(s). Loosen the cable adjusting nut and remove the cable clamp from the cable housing; on Integra models, the adjusting nut is on the equalizer assembly, and for Legend models, detach the rear section of the exhaust system and remove a heat shield to access the cables. Unhook the cable from the equalizer. For models with rear drum brakes, remove the brake shoes and disconnect the cable end from the lever on the trailing brake shoe by pulling it out with needle-nose pliers. Compress the tangs on the cable housing retainer to pass the cable through the backing plate using an offset 12mm box end wrench. For models with rear disc brakes, remove the clip and clevis to disconnect the cable end from the actuator lever on the caliper, then remove the spring clip to free the cable housing from the support bracket. Unbolt the cable housing clamps from the underbody, noting the cable routing, and remove the cable from the vehicle, which may require removing the exhaust pipe heat shield bolts. If both cables need removal, repeat the steps for the remaining cable. Installation is the reverse of removal, and after installing the cable(s), adjust them accordingly.
