  How to Remove and Install a Fuel Pump in an 2004 Acura MDX?

  Disconnect the negative battery terminal and relieve fuel system pressure. Remove the second-row seat and cut the carpet underneath to access the fuel pump. For 2001-2004 Acura and Honda models, remove the fuel pump access cover and disconnect the fuel pump electrical connector. Disconnect the fuel supply and return lines, covering the ends with plastic bags. Remove the fuel pump locknut and module from the tank, replacing any damaged seals. For 2003 and later Acura and 2005 and later Honda models, remove the rubber seal grommet from the fuel pump access cover and disconnect the electrical connector. Remove the fuel line fitting from the fuel pump and unscrew the locknut. Remove the fuel pump module from the tank. For both, install the seal first when reinstalling the module. Reconnect the battery, start the engine and check for leaks before replacing the carpet and seat.
