To access the release cable and lever retaining bolts, begin by working in the driver's side passenger compartment, removing the screw and detaching the trim panel. After that, remove the lever retaining bolts and detach the cable(s) from the release assembly. For the cables, work in the trunk or rear compartment by removing the plastic clips that secure the driver's side and rear inside finishing panels to gain access to the fuel door assembly. Twist the cable 90 degrees to align the tabs on the striker assembly with the slots in the body, then withdraw it into the rear compartment and detach the trunk release cable from the trunk lid latch. Next, remove the left door sill plate, the rear seat, and the left rear quarter trim panel, pulling back the carpet to detach all cable retaining clips. In the trunk compartment, pull the cable assembly towards the rear of the vehicle, and for installation, follow the reverse order of removal.
