To remove the fuel injectors, start by detaching the cable from the negative battery terminal, ensuring you have the activation code for the stereo if it has an anti-theft system. Next, relieve the fuel pressure and, for 1999 and later CR-V models, remove the intake manifold resonator by unscrewing the bolts and lifting it off. Unplug the injector connectors using a small screwdriver or sharp pick to remove the bail. Detach the vacuum hose and fuel return hose from the
Fuel Pressure Regulator, followed by any ground cables from the fuel rail. Remove the fuel feed line from the fuel rail, then take off the mounting nuts to detach the fuel rail from the injectors. Carefully remove the injectors from the intake manifold, discarding the O-ring, cushion ring, and seal ring. For installation, coat the new cushion rings with clean engine oil and slide them onto the injectors, then do the same for the new O-rings before inserting each injector into its bore in the fuel rail. After that, coat the new seal rings with clean engine oil and press them into the injector bores in the intake manifold. Install the injector and fuel rail assembly onto the intake manifold, tightening the mounting nuts to the specified torque. The remaining steps follow the reverse order of removal. Once the assembly is installed, turn the ignition switch to ON without starting the engine to activate the fuel pump for about two seconds, building up fuel pressure in the lines and rail. Repeat this a couple of times and check for any fuel leakage around the lines, rail, and injectors.
