Acura Integra Wheel Seal

The Acura Integra Wheel Seal helps maintain the health of your vehicle's wheel bearings by sealing in the lubricant and blocking out dirt, water, and road grit. Occupying a position between the turning hub and the stationary spindle, the Wheel Seal assists in retaining grease next to the wheel bearings while preventing rocks and debris from entering and contaminating that grease or grinding surfaces. The assembly relies on the Wheel Seal remaining flexible and leak-free because if the seal cracks or dries out, it will allow grease to escape, contaminants to enter, and the bearing can overheat. Since the same basic rubber-and-metal type already met the twin goals of lubricant retention and contaminant exclusion, the designers of successive generations of Acura Integra made basically the same Wheel Seal, so when early coupes are compared to later hatchbacks, owners will not see radically different designs. By regularly checking for wet streaks or gaps, drivers can ensure every Acura unit still grips the hub tightly. This keeps every Integra rolling smoothly thanks to a dependable Wheel Seal extending bearing life. This saves future Acura drivers from costly repairs. Plus, it helps maintain the crisp handling Integra fans love.

Acura Integra Wheel Seal Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace driveaxle wheel seals to prevent oil leaks on an Acura Integra?
    A:
Wear of wheel seals often causes oil leaks, which are relatively easy to replace by removing the drive axle from the vehicle. Sides of the transaxle where driveaxles connect, is the place these seals are placed. Raise the vehicle, then safely support it on jackstands, and if you discover the seal is leaking, lubricant should spill out of the sides of the transaxle below the seal. Prying the wheel seal out of the transaxle bore using a screwdriver or prybar, and inserting the tip into the grooves behind the seals. If removal is impossible, a special wheel seal removal tool available at auto parts store may prove necessary. A large section of pipe or a deep socket slightly smaller than the seal outside diameter should be used for the drift, seating the seal firmly in the bore. If the seals have been replaced, coat the seal lip with transaxle lubricant, and reinstall the driveaxle(s), being careful not to damage the lip of the new seal.
