Acura RDX Piston Rings

The Piston Rings of the Acura RDX prevent combustion energy from escaping and ensure that the oil stays put. These Piston Rings are constructed from ductile iron or steel, having a heat resistant seal. Their faces are coated with plasma moly or chrome to slide smoothly, thereby reducing friction and returning excess oil to the sump. Because the hot gas targets the top ring and the second ring reinforces sealing, the three-piece oil control unit meters lubricant. Thus, the Piston Rings act together to block blow by and keep spark plugs clean. Subsequent Acura powertrains implemented slimmer 1 mm and 2 mm steel Piston Rings.
