Firstly, you can remove the rocker arm assembly by removing the valve cover and timing belt. To remove the valve cover, start by taking off the timing belt, then loosen the rocker arm adjusting screws. Loosen the rocker shaft mounting bolts a quarter turn at a time in the reverse of the tightening sequence until the spring pressure is relieved, and lift the rocker arms and shaft assembly from the cylinder head without removing the shaft mounting bolts. If disassembly and inspection of the rocker arm assembly is desired, remove the mounting bolts and carefully slip the rocker arms and springs off the shafts, keeping the parts organized for reassembly. Clean the parts thoroughly and inspect for wear and damage, checking the rocker arm faces, tips, and shaft surfaces for scoring and excessive wear, replacing any damaged components and ensuring oil holes are clear. Remove and clean the lost motion assemblies, checking for smooth plunger operation, and verify the smoothness of the VTEC pistons in each intake rocker arm. Lubricate all components with engine oil before reassembling the shafts, paying attention to the markings that differentiate left and right side parts, noting that intake rocker arms are straight while exhaust rockers are angled and marked A and B. Coat the wear surfaces of the rocker arms with camshaft installation lubricant and install the rocker arm assembly, tightening the rocker shaft mounting bolts gradually according to the recommended sequence to the specified torque. Check the valve clearance and adjust as necessary, then complete the installation in reverse order of removal. Finally, run the engine to check for oil leaks and ensure proper operation.
