Acura 30510-PT2-006 Ignition Coil Assembly

Ensure the ignition switch is turned OFF before performing the checks. Begin by removing the distributor cap, rotor, and leak cover if present. Disconnect the primary electrical connectors from the ignition coil. Use an ohmmeter to measure the primary resistance by touching the probes to the primary terminals of the coil and compare the reading to the specified value, ensuring to disconnect the coil connectors first. Next, measure the secondary resistance by touching the probes to the secondary winding terminal and the positive primary terminal, and compare this reading to the resistance value. Note that readings may vary with the coil's temperature, with specified resistance values applicable at approximately 70 degrees F. If the coil does not pass either check, it should be replaced with a new part. For replacement, detach the cable from the negative terminal of the battery, taking care to have the correct activation code for the radio if it has an anti-theft system. Remove the distributor cap and leak cover if equipped, then detach the wires from the primary terminals and remove the two screws securing the coil to slide it out. Installation follows the reverse order of removal.
