Acura 30520-PH7-016 Ignition Coil Assembly (Torque Converter-04A) (Tec)

Ensure the ignition switch is turned Off before performing the checks. For Legend and 1986 and 1987 Integra models, remove the rubber boot from the coil and detach the high tension lead from the secondary terminal. For 1988 and 1989 Integra models, remove the distributor cap and mark and disconnect the wires from the primary terminals. Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between the primary terminals (A and B) and compare it to the specified value. Measure the resistance between the secondary winding terminal and the positive primary terminal (A) and compare it to the secondary resistance value. The specified resistance values are for a coil temperature of about 70 degrees F, and if the coil fails either check, it should be replaced. For 1986 and 1987 Integra and all Legend models, unplug the primary and secondary connectors and the coil high tension lead. Measure the resistance between primary terminals A and D, then between terminal A and the secondary terminal, and finally between terminals B and D, comparing each reading to the specified values. If the coil passes all checks, reconnect the connectors; if it fails any, replace it. For replacement in 1988 and 1989 Integra, detach the cable from the negative battery terminal, remove the distributor cap and leak cover, detach the wires from the primary terminals, and slide the coil out after removing the four screws. For 1986 and 1987 Integra and all Legends, detach the cable from the negative battery terminal, mark the positions of the primary wires with numbered tape, unplug the primary connectors, detach the high-tension lead, remove the two mounting bolts, and detach the coil from its bracket, with installation being the reverse of removal.
