    How to remove and install a front steering knuckle and strut assembly on Acura MDX? Posted by Customer

    Loosen axle/hub nut and wheel lug nuts. Raise vehicle and remove wheel. Remove brake disc, ABS sensor, and brake hose. Loosen strut-to-knuckle fasteners and separate tie-rod end. Remove ball joint lock pin and separate from knuckle. Remove strut-to-knuckle fasteners and axle/hub nut. Push axle from hub and separate knuckle from strut. INSTALLATION: Position knuckle and hub assembly, insert axle into hub. Connect ball joint to knuckle and attach tie-rod. Tighten strut fasteners, ball joint nut, and tie-rod nut. Install new cotter and lock pins. Install brake disc and caliper. Install new axle/hub nut and wheel. Lower vehicle and tighten lug nuts. Tighten axle/hub nut. Check and adjust front wheel alignment if needed.

    During installation of the rear knuckle, tighten the ball joint stud castle nut to the lower torque figure, and if necessary, tighten it a little more to line up the slots in the nut with the hole in the stud. Install a new lock pin. Install a new drive axle/hub nut. Raise the lower arm B with a floor jack to simulate normal ride height, then tighten the fasteners to the torque. Finally, tighten the wheel lug nuts and the drive axle/hub nut to the specified torque.
