The procedure is much easier to perform with an empty fuel tank, which may have a drain plug for this purpose; if not, fuel can be siphoned using a siphoning kit available at most auto parts stores, ensuring not to start the siphoning action with your mouth. Begin by removing the fuel tank filler cap to relieve pressure, then relieve the fuel system pressure. Detach the cable from the negative terminal of the battery. If a drain plug is present, remove it to drain the fuel into an approved gasoline container; otherwise, siphon the fuel into an approved container. For Legend models, remove the cover in the luggage compartment and disconnect the fuel gauge and fuel pump connector, while for Integra models, disconnect the fuel gauge connector from under the vehicle. Raise the rear of the vehicle and secure it on jackstands, then label and disconnect the fuel lines along with any hoses or brackets. Support the fuel tank with a floor jack, using a piece of wood to protect it, then disconnect both fuel tank retaining straps and pivot them down. Lower the tank enough to disconnect the electrical connectors and ground strap from the fuel pump and fuel gauge sending unit before removing the tank from the vehicle. Installation follows the reverse order of removal.
