For the removal and installation of the accelerator cable on 2003 and earlier models, start by disconnecting the negative battery terminal and then rotate the throttle lever cam to disengage the cable end plug. Loosen the accelerator cable locknut, disengage the cable from the bracket, and detach it from clamps or guides back to the firewall. Locate the cable connection at the top of the accelerator pedal and disconnect it, then remove the nuts securing the accelerator cable grommet and mounting flange to the firewall and pull the cable through. The installation is the reverse of removal, and for adjustment, rotate the throttle cam to measure cable deflection. If needed, adjust by turning the adjustment nut.For 2004 and later models, disconnect the negative battery terminal and remove the APP sensor cover bolts to uncover the accelerator cable. Loosen the accelerator cable locknut, rotate the throttle lever cam to disengage the cable, and disconnect the cable from the pedal arm. Remove the nuts securing the accelerator cable grommet and mounting flange, and pull the cable through the firewall. Reinstallation is the reverse, ensuring to check and adjust the accelerator cable before installing the cover.For the adjustment, with the throttle cam closed, measure cable deflection between the bracket and cam. If incorrect, adjust using the adjustment nut. After adjusting, have an assistant depress and release the accelerator pedal while you verify the throttle cam's movement. If needed, readjust the cable. Once the adjustment is complete, install the cover.
