  A: For the removal and installation of the accelerator cable on 2003 and earlier models, start by disconnecting the negative battery terminal and then rotate the throttle lever cam to disengage the cable end plug. Loosen the accelerator cable locknut, disengage the cable from the bracket, and detach it from clamps or guides back to the firewall. Locate the cable connection at the top of the accelerator pedal and disconnect it, then remove the nuts securing the accelerator cable grommet and mounting flange to the firewall and pull the cable through. The installation is the reverse of removal, and for adjustment, rotate the throttle cam to measure cable deflection. If needed, adjust by turning the adjustment nut.For 2004 and later models, disconnect the negative battery terminal and remove the APP sensor cover bolts to uncover the accelerator cable.
