Acura Integra Cruise Control Switch

Acura Integra Cruise Control Switch allows drivers to set a steady highway speed that conserves effort and fuel and still allows focus on the road. This Cruise Control Switch is installed on the steering column or the steering wheel depending on the model year and is directly connected to the engine control unit that receives the electrical signals which activate the speed holding program. A single press adjusts the current mph. Tapping up or down adjusts speed, and a quick push of resume is applied to restore the previous value following braking. Early generations of Integra had a distinct stalk style Cruise Control Switch on the right-hand column, but later coupes and sedans relocated the thumb pad to an integrated spoke on the wheel. The stalk type preferred using the simple lever clicks in comparison to the wheel mounted version groups, which consist of set, accel, coast, cancel, and power push buttons and minimize the amount of hand movement, but it feels more sporty. Every Cruise Control Switch should react immediately, no matter what the design is, since the failure of any single unit will bring the entire system to a halt, and the driver will have to control the throttle by hand, which is why the updated Cruise Control Switch will make long journeys comfortable for all Acura followers of every Integra year of Acura production updates.

Acura Integra Cruise Control Switch Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to check and replace the Cruise Control Switch, rear defogger, and instrument panel lights dimmer switches on an Acura Integra?
    A:
You cannot test the cruise control switch until you take it apart from the dashboard. Plug the ohmmeter into its diagram and test for easy current flow from the switch terminals to the diagram's lettered points in different switch positions. When you check for bulbs and find one doesn't work, replace only that bad bulb. When you don't get the indicated connectivity, the switch needs to be replaced. Open the dashboard, pull the switch out, and detach its electrical wires before you can take it out of the car. Installation is the reverse of removal. To take out the rear defogger switch on lntegra cars, detach it from inside the instrument panel. Use your ohmmeter or test lamp in the right way, following this picture, to see if there's an electrical connection between the given switch terminals, controlling where you move the switch. If your light test shows no power, just replace the damaged bulb. When the switch does not match the requirements, replace it right away. Pin the switch off from the instrument panel carefully while unplugging its electric connection. Installation is the reverse of removal. Take off the instrument panel lights dimmer switch from its spot on the panel. Because the control parts are inside the switch, regular testing tools don't work. Check the switch terminals for damage; fix them if you can, but replace the unit if needed. Use an ohmmeter to check continuity by connecting a good chassis to terminal no. 2. When the headlight switch is on, attach one lead of a voltmeter to terminal no. 1 and the other to ground to see if there's battery voltage at the poles. When you turn the ON position on the headlight switch, join one end of a connecting wire to terminal no. 3 and the other end to a solid metal part of the car; all the instrument panel lights should shine at full strength. When the testing showed correct readings and the switch stopped working, get a new one. Lift out the switch from the instrument panel, then take off the wiring plug to disconnect it. Installation is the reverse of removal.
