Raise the vehicle and support it securely on jackstands, then remove the transaxle. If it's leaking, now would be a very good time to replace the front pump seal/0-ring for automatic transaxles. Remove the bolts with a 12-point socket while holding the crankshaft from turning using Acura tool no. 07924-PD20003 or 07924-PD20002; if these are unavailable, wedge a large screwdriver into the ring gear to jam the flywheel. Next, remove the flywheel/driveplate from the crankshaft, ensuring to support it while removing the last bolt due to its weight. Clean the flywheel to remove grease and oil, inspecting the surface for cracks, rivet grooves, burned areas, and score marks; light scoring can be removed with emery cloth. Check for cracked and broken ring gear teeth, laying the flywheel on a flat surface to use a straightedge for checking warpage. Clean and inspect the mating surfaces of the flywheel/driveplate and the crankshaft, replacing the crankshaft oil seal if it is leaking before reinstalling the flywheel/driveplate. Position the flywheel/driveplate against the crankshaft, noting that offset bolt holes ensure correct installation, and be sure to install the spacer washer with the driveplate. Hold the crankshaft from turning as previously described, and working in several stages, follow the tightening sequence to tighten the bolts to the specified torque. The remainder of installation follows the reverse of the removal procedure.
