Acura TL Turn Signal Flasher

The Acura TL Turn Signal Flasher keeps your vehicle visible and understood, blinking the corner lamps when the stalk is moved. Located in the fuse box, this tiny relay connects the steering column switch to the light bulbs, allowing just enough current to create a timed on-off pattern that signals to other traffic where the TL intends to go. Updates on the Acura made later focused on compatibility with LED bulbs. Early fourth-generation automobiles utilized a thermal Turn Signal Flasher. This device made use of a bi-metal strip that would heat up and bend, closing the circuit, then cool and open it again, resulting in characteristic click and flash repetition. The model now uses an electronic Turn Signal Flasher that implements solid-state circuitry and a timing chip to replicate the same cadence without using heat, a design better suited to the lower draw of LED lamps on the late-cycle versions. Both designs still showcase the classic tap for driver feedback. When a Turn Signal Flasher fails, the symptoms include dead blinkers along with erratic blinker function. Replacement is simple and consists of choosing the correct type of Turn Signal Flasher for your bulb technology so your Acura TL continues blinking safely.

Acura TL Turn Signal Flasher Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: What Controls the Turn Signal Flasher and Hazard Flasher, and What Should Be Checked if They Malfunction on an Acura TL?
    A:
The turn signal and hazard flashers are controlled by the turn signal and hazard flasher in the under dash Fuse and relay box. The source of this flasher is located on the lower right of the relay box for models from 1999 to 2003, and on the upper right for the 2004 and later models. Also, to gain access to the flasher, the left kick panel must be removed. If a turn signal indicator light flashes faster than usual, you suspect a blown filament in the corresponding turn signal bulb; but if you hear an audible click, that indicates the flasher unit is working fine. In the cases when there is no light at all on the indicator light, it can mean a blown fuse, the faulty flasher, a broken switch or a loose connection. If the fuse blows for the left or right turn signal, it is safe to check wiring shorts instead of replacing the fuse. If the flasher is bad, it is critical to purchase a replacement one that matches the original.
