- A:To remove the hub/bearing assembly on a 2007 Acura MDX, start by loosening the drive axle/hub nut and the wheel lug nuts. Then, raise the rear of the vehicle and support it securely on jack stands. Remove the wheel and the brake caliper, caliper mounting bracket, and brake disc. Next, remove the drive axle/hub nut and discard it. Take out the four hub/bearing assembly mounting bolts from the rear of the rear knuckle and remove the hub/bearing assembly. If the drive axle splines stick in the hub, use a two-jaw puller to push the drive axle out. To install the hub/bearing assembly, ensure that the mounting surface inside the rear knuckle and the drive axle splines are smooth and free of burrs and nicks. Lubricate the drive axle splines with multi-purpose grease and install the hub/bearing assembly onto the drive axle and into the rear knuckle until it is seated. Then, install the hub/bearing assembly-to-knuckle bolts, tightening them equally in a criss-cross pattern until the assembly is securely seated against the rear knuckle. Install a new drive axle/hub nut, but do not tighten it yet. Install the brake disc, caliper mounting bracket, and caliper, tightening the fasteners to the specified torque values. Finally, install the wheel and lug nuts, remove the jack stands, and lower the vehicle.
