When the engine is off but the key is turned on, detach the distributor rotor and cap, then pull the black/yellow wire away from the ICM to check the voltage between the tip of the wire and the body frame. Make sure to measure voltage at the harness connector while you turn the key ON, but don't start the engine. Resetting the power flow from your car battery involves checking three underhood fuse/relay box fuses (number 41, 42, and resetting fuse number 9 in the passenger compartment). Check two important connections using the key: one verifies the ignition switch sends the ICM power from the battery, and the other checks the yellow-green wire between the ICM and Powertrain Control Module alongside the blue wire that connects with the tachometer. On the car's body, find the blue wire from the ignition coil or white/blue from TEC connectors. Check if they connect to ground when you turn your ignition key to the "ON" position. Check two places: look for continuity between the primary terminals of the ignition coil while checking voltages at the corresponding wire and the coil. When the ICM and circuits work fine but there's no spark, switch out the ICM. Before installing a new ICM, remember to disconnect the negative battery cable and get the activation code if your car has an antitheft radio system. Pull the ICM unit off gently by removing its cover, disconnecting all connections to it, unscrewing any set screws holding the unit in place, then turning the unit straight out of its position. Installation is the reverse of removal.
