    Q:
How do you test and replace the ignition control module on Acura Integra? Posted by Customer
    A:
Check for battery voltage to the ignition module by removing the distributor cap and rotor, then disconnecting the black/yellow wire from the ICM to measure voltage between it and body ground. Ensure there is voltage at the harness connector with the ignition key ON while the engine is not running. If there is no voltage to the ICM, inspect the circuit from the ICM to the battery, starting with the ignition switch fuses number 41 and 42 in the underhood fuse/relay box, and fuse number 9 in the passenger compartment. Verify that the ignition switch delivers battery voltage to the ICM with the key ON, and check the yellow-green wire between the ICM and Powertrain Control Module, as well as the blue wire connecting to the tachometer. If continuity is absent between the ends of any wire, there is a break; if continuity exists between either end and body ground, there is a short. Next, check for battery voltage from the ignition coil to the ignition module with the ignition key ON, measuring voltage between the blue wire or white/blue wire and body ground. If there is no voltage, inspect the circuit between the corresponding wire and the ignition coil, and check for continuity between the primary terminals of the ignition coil to rule out an open circuit. If the ignition coil and circuits are functioning properly but there is still no spark, replace the ICM. To replace the ICM, disconnect the negative battery cable, ensuring to have the correct activation code for the radio if it has an anti-theft system. Remove the distributor cap and cover, disconnect all electrical connectors from the ICM unit, and take out the set screw(s) from the ICM body before pulling the ICM unit straight out. Installation follows the reverse order of removal.
