Electric rear view mirrors utilize two motors for adjustments, It includes one for vertical movement and one for horizontal movement. The left or the right mirror is directed by the control switch with a selector to receive voltage. With the engine OFF and example ON, roll down the windows and switch the mirror control switch through all functions for both mirrors. Listen for the sound of the electric motors-just their sound and not the movement of the mirror glass if you can hear them, but the mirror glass does not move-this is probably an issue with the internal drive mechanism. If you don't hear anything from the mirrors, check the fuse. Check the voltage at the switch without removal of the switch if the fuse is intact, then remove the mirror control switch without disconnecting the wires when turn the ignition ON. Good, 1 terminal should have voltage in one case with no voltage, check that the wiring if not between the fuse panel and switch is OK for cuts or short circuits. For continuity tests, disconnect the switch and test for continuity in all operating positions; the switch must be replaced if continuity is not found if voltage is present. Find the wire that goes to ground and reattach the switch. Connect this wire to ground with a jumper wire, switch it on and see if the mirror works normally if it does, repair the faulty ground connection. If the mirror still will not operate, remove the cover and check for voltage at the mirror wires with a test light, and the ignition should be on, and the selector switch set properly. Expect voltage on one (or both) of the switch to mirror wires for all mirror switch positions except neutral. If voltage is not there in any location, scan the wiring between the mirror and control switch for being not right. Remove the mirror and test it off the vehicle with jumper wires, replacing it if it fails this test if voltage is present.

Disconnect the electrical connector from the mirror if it is equipped.
