Raise the front of the vehicle and secure it on jackstands. Insert a large screwdriver or prybar between the mount support arm and the frame to lever the support arm; for checking the transaxle mount, insert a large screwdriver at the designated point and attempt to move the transaxle; if it moves significantly, the mount should be replaced. The transaxle support arm should not move up more than about 1/2 to 3/4-inch within the mount; if it does, the mount needs replacement. To replace the mount, support the transaxle with a jack, remove the nuts and bolts, and take out the mount, ensuring that no part of your body is under the transaxle when it is only supported by a jack. Installation follows the reverse order of removal.

First, disconnect the cable from the negative terminal of the battery, ensuring you have the correct activation code for the radio if it has an anti-theft system. Then, raise the vehicle and support it securely on jack stands, and support the engine. Remove the fasteners, raise the engine with the jack, and detach the mount from the frame bracket and engine. Finally, install the new mount, ensuring it is correctly positioned in its bracket, then install and securely tighten the fasteners.

Applying rubber preservative to the insulators can help slow deterioration.
