- Q: How to replace the front crankshaft seal on a DOHC engine in an 2000 Acura Integra?A: Next, remove six of the drivebelts, then pull off the crankshaft pulley. And then remove the outer belt guide and crankshaft sprocket from the crankshaft and the inner belt guide, if equipped, and make sure the curved outer lip of the outer belt guide is facing away from the belt. Pry the seal from the oil pump housing carefully with a seal removal tool or screwdriver, making sure you don't nick or scratch the crankshaft or oil pump, which could allow the new seal to leak. Clean the bore in the oil pump housing and coat the edge of the new seal with engine oil or multi purpose grease. To drive the seal into place you may use a socket with a slight smaller diameter outside the seal then the seal or a section of large diameter pipe-if no socket is available-and check the seal once installed to see whether the spring has popped out. The timing belt is installed then, the inner belt guide, crankshaft sprocket, and outer belt guide is installed. Install in reverse order of removal, lubricating the sleeve of the crankshaft pulley with engine oil or multi purpose grease. Run the engine now and look for leaks.
