The fuel level sensor and
Fuel Pump are combined on CR-V models. First disassemble the rear seat. You then remove the fuel level sensor protective cover, if attached, along with the sensor access cover from the floor of the vehicle, and if you have an Integra, the protective bar along with the sensor access cover. For CR-V models, remove the fuel lines, and for other 2002 models, disconnect the electrical connector from the sensor. If the sensor is locked with a locking ring it is advisable to use a brass, not a steel punch, to create the sparks between the metal punch and outside locker ring, at which time the tabs should coincide with the recess in the housing. Remove nuts if the sensor is held. Remove the fuel level sensor from the tank, lifting it carefully through the access hole, to do so, also not to damage the float arm. Use an ohmmeter to check the resistance at the electrical connector terminals with the float in various positions: half tank, empty, and full tank. Verify the resistance first with the float in an empty position and make sure that is within the specified range. Next, measure the resistance when the half tank is in place and match it to the expected one. Measure the resistance with the float in the full tank position finally. If the readings are off or start very low at beginning and continue very low as float goes full to empty, replace the sensor. The installation procedure is in reverse order of removal endeavouring to ensure a new gasket is used under the sealing flange.
