To remove the latch, first take off the radiator grille opening cover if present, then mark a line around the latch for alignment during installation, detach the latch retaining bolts from the radiator support, and remove the latch. Next, disconnect the hood release cable by disengaging it from the latch assembly. For installation, reverse the removal process, ensuring the latch is adjusted so the hood closes securely with the bumpers slightly compressed. To disconnect the hood release cable, remove the driver's side kick panel in the passenger compartment, take out the two release lever mounting bolts, and detach the hood release lever along with the cable. Attach a piece of stiff wire to the release lever end of the cable, then remove all cable retaining clips. Push the grommet through the firewall and pull the cable into the engine compartment, ensuring the new cable has a grommet attached before replacing the old cable. Finally, pull the wire back through the firewall and complete the installation by pushing the grommet to seat it fully in the firewall.
