Acura Legend Sway Bar Kit

The Acura Legend Sway Bar Kit helps reduce body roll during cornering by linking together the left and right suspension bars with a torsion bar. The Sway Bar Kit uses a solid or tubular steel bar that is constrained by end links and bushings. By doing this, it transfers cornering force across the axle. This forces the wheels to move together. As a result, you have sharper steering response. As stock parts age, worn rubber bushings and stretched links can cause clunks and additional roll, but replacing them with a Sway Bar Kit restores stability. In the production years, the Legend was fitted with two principal styles. The first is the original factory setup, which was more about comfort. Then a thicker bar was fitted with adjustable holes for the driver wanting a firmer setup. The difference was in the diameter and tunability. Opting for a Sway Bar Kit with robust polyurethane bushings enhances the feel because these more rigid inserts deflect less while also resisting heat and oil. An Acura kit with serviceable link bushings can simply be rebuilt as a cost-effective fix for owners. Routine checks of bushings and ball-socket links keep the Acura razor-sharp through corners, just like the Legend. Choosing the right Sway Bar Kit keeps every Acura Legend confident through curves.

Acura Legend Sway Bar Kit Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to remove and install the rear Sway Bar Kit on an Acura Legend?
    A:
Take off the door on each corner of your car, lift the back of your car, put supports underneath it, and then take out your tires from the back. For the lower arm in 1986-1988 sedans, unfasten the bar and remove the bolt and nut from its link. In all coupes and 1989-1990 sedans detach the bar from the Trailing Arm by unscrewing the bar and nut from the link. Undo the two bolts that hold the stabilizer clamp to the vehicle's body; for 1986 through 1988 sedans, first detach the bracket from below, then loosen the bolts on the other side to release the Sway Bar Kit. Installation is the reverse of removal.
