Detach the cable from the negative battery terminal, ensuring you have the correct activation code for the stereo's anti-theft system before disconnecting the battery. Relieve the fuel system pressure. For all models except the 1998 Integra hatchbacks, remove the rear seat; for the 1998 Integra hatchbacks, remove the spare tire cover and protective cover. Remove the bolts retaining the fuel pump access cover, then unplug the electrical connector from the fuel pump and detach the fuel lines. Remove the retaining nuts for the fuel pump assembly and lift the pump from the tank, angling it slightly to avoid damaging the pump screen. Take off the electrical connector protective cover and disconnect the electrical connector from the fuel pump by lifting the tab. Squeeze the hose clamps with pliers, removing the upper clamp from the hose and sliding the lower clamp halfway up the hose off the fuel pump inlet. Separate the pump from the fuel pump bracket and remove the sock filter from the end of the pump by prying off the retaining clip. Installation is the reverse of removal, ensuring to replace sealing washers if the fuel line has a banjo bolt fitting, obtain a new plastic retainer for models with a quick-connect fitting, and install a new gasket on the cover plate flange.
