Take away the cable from the negative battery terminal, and on Legend cars you have to remove a control box that hangs above the accelerator cable by the firewall. Use a wrench to loosen the locknut, take the cable off its bracket using an open-end wrench. Turn the bellcrank to move the cable out of its track, and release it from its hook on the side. Unscrew the connecting cable from where it controls the accelerator pedal. Climb under the hood and take out the grommet from the firewall. Meanwhile, reach through from the engine corner to pull the cable through. Installation is the reverse of removal. Change the cable by lifting it up to take out the loose part, turning the bolt until the cable is 3 mm (1/8-inch) from the bracket, then tight Make sure throttle linkage cable bends between 3/8 to 1/2 inch. Adjust until it matches these measurements. Before completing the job, make sure the throttle valve completes its full opening when you press the gas pedal down, and returns to idle without jerks once you release your foot. When your car has an automatic transmission, adjust the transaxle's cable by the throttle valve. A dealership's service or repair shop should fix cruise control cables for your car.
