How to remove and replace fuel injectors and Fuel Rail in Acura MDX?

To replace the fuel pressure regulator, release fuel pressure and disconnect the battery, remove the engine cover, and disconnect the fuel injectors' electrical connectors. Disconnect the vacuum hose from the fuel pressure regulator and remove the fuel pulsation damper. Remove the fuel supply line banjo fitting and discard the old sealing washers. Disconnect the fuel return hose and the fuel supply hose. Remove each injector from the fuel rail and clean the fuel strainer. Install new cushion rings and O-rings on the injectors and insert the fuel strainer. Install new lower O-rings and insert each injector into the fuel rail.

Acura MDX Fuel Rail

The Acura MDX Fuel Rail transmits pressurized gasoline from the pump to each individual injector to supply the V6 engine with fuel in an appropriate manner. This ensures power delivery is smooth and emissions are clean. The Fuel Rail charges from an electric pump and a pressure regulator. It maintains pressure so that the powertrain control module can widen or shorten injector pulse width due to the sensors. This allows the engine to match flow to a load on the engine. Acura MDX generations applied a conventional port-injection Fuel Rail that feeds the injectors located in the intake manifold runners. However, later MDX versions featured a high-pressure common-rail layout that works with gasoline direct injection or GDI just like a diesel engine, sending fuel directly into the combustion chambers. The port style works at modest pressure and is very reliable. On the other hand, the direct-injection MDX Fuel Rail sees pressures of over 2,000 bar, giving it a finer droplet which helps with stronger combustion, better mileage and lower emissions.
